Serum lipids and dehydroepiandrosterone excretion in normal subjects.

چکیده
Serum levels of cholesterol, phospholipids, beta-lipoproteins, and free fatty acids were correlated with urinary dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) excretion in healthy blood donors. An indirect dependence was found for cholesterol and phospholipids that was more important in persons with a low DHEA excretion. The correlation seems to be more a function of the dependence of both DHEA excretion and serum lipid levels on age than a direct relationship between these factors.

Study on the effect of high calcium intake on serum protein bound iodine and urinary excretion of iodine
Iodine deficiency remains a major health problem in the world, including some parts of Iran. It has been recognized that there is usually a close and inverse relationship between iodine in the soil and water and presence of endemic goiter. Calcium has been suggested as one of goitrogens, though the definite role, extent and mechanism particularly in human have not been studied. Serum protein-...
متن کاملاثر توام چربیهای اشباع و کلسترول دریافتی بر لیپیدهای سرم در ساکنین
Background: Despite many studies on the effect of saturated fat and cholesterol intake on serum lipids, data on the combined effect of these two dietary components on serum lipoprotein response is very limited. Materials and methods: In this study, a representative sample of 443 subjects, aged 18 years and over, were included. Dietary intake was assessed by means of two 24–hour dietary recall...
متن کاملAssociation between urinary albumin excretion and serum dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate concentration in male patients with type 2 diabetes: a possible link between urinary albumin excretion and cardiovascular disease.
OBJECTIVE Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of mortality and morbidity in patients with type 2 diabetes. Both elevated urinary albumin excretion and low serum concentrations of dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) are associated with increased CVD mortality. This raises the possibility of DHEA as a causal intermediate linking urinary albumin excretion to CVD. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METH...
متن کاملAminophylline Infusion Induced Excretion of Magnesium During Magnesium Loading Test in Critically Ill Patients
The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of Mg deficiency and effect of aminophylline infusion on urine magnesium concentration after magnesium loading test (MLT). To determine serum Mg, venous blood specimens were obtained just before the first MLT. Two MLTs were performed. The first one was done before starting aminophylline infusion and the 2nd one was done du...
متن کاملRegulatory Modifications of Steroidogenesis following the Administration of Embryonary Peptides
Regulatory modifications of steroidogenesis were induced following the administration on rats and humans of a nutritive supplement, Humanofort, containing two embryonary peptides (EP) of 5 and 10 kDa. The administration of EP to rats for 60 days increased significantly the urinary excretion of 17-ketosteroids in all animals. The serum cholesterol increased only in females, by ~50%, this increas...
